Feature article personal experience

For my personal article I choose to use personal reflections for different topics to help convey my point to beginning runners. I also used testaments from the writers to give additional information. Lastly, I interviewed my teammate Rachel Breault to learn about blisters and how she takes care of them.

feature article outline

The beginning steps to start running.

  • Intro uses catch, and explains the summary of what I'm doing with an example of how to start and maybe a personal story on how to I got into running and how its difficult but overall worth it in the long run
  • questions should be raised such as training plans, how to get motivated, and issues people might face
  • give training schedules, injury prevention tips, and different ways to motivate people to get fit
Examples of how to take care of muscles and different amounts of running to do to train for a certain event, all found in different sources

Things that will also be involved is personal experience from me on how I started and how I relate, as well as sources with expert opinion.

Exploding a moment

It was a cold, wet morning in November  and I was not looking forward to running.  My alarm started shrieking at 6:17 a.m. like every day, telling me its time to run.  I quickly shut it off to avoid waking my roommate.  Next I get dressed in darkness, a challenge in itself.  Now on the the endless pain of running.  Not only is it raining, cold, and dark but I am sore beyond belief as my joints creak and crack as I walk to the track.  Now the actual running begins as I find a new depth of pain while my muscles loosen up.  The thing that keeps me going on these morning runs is my teammates.  As we share in our daily gossip we pass the time and the memories.  This is my moment of my first of two runs every single day...

Feature article research

For my feature article I found many different articles talking about beginning to run.  These articles deal with variety of topics.  Such as training plans, injury prevention, technique tips, and work out plans.  All these will give me background for for my article on how to aid beginners in there journey to start running.

Feature article issue

For writing my feature article, i was using my community of running.  I specialized in running and decided to write about how beginners can get into running.  In this i can use different training plans to write up with as evidence and advice on how to start.  Also I can talk about injuries and problems beginners will face and have to endure to become long term runners.  With these issues I have I can also use personal issues to help give other background information on the article.  These facts plus the personal knowledge that I know will help me to write an extensive and comprehensive feature article.

3 Online blog analysis

The online blog I picked was http://www.everywhereist.com/. It talks about different aspects of traveling and vacationing.  The main issue is problems or questions and even reviews that relate to the vacationing spots.  It talks about these issues in a broad sense to attract more people and more audience throughout the traveling community.  It relates to my community because it both involves specific details and issues that are prevalent in the community.  By saying this they are kind of the same, just the online blog is a broader example as compared to my blog about the issues and problems in the running community.

Future feature articles/stories

In the future I can use these same credentials that I used for the profile of Sendin, for other feature articles. Some ideas for them would be different aspects of the running community.  Such as, The benefits of running, how running can affect your life, and how running can change your life.  These are different examples of how feature articles can be used for future articles on the running community.

Why I Choose Sendin to profile

There are 5 main reasons why I choose Sendin to profile for my paper they are:
  1. We are both involved in the same community making it easier to relate.
  2. We share the same experiences being on the same college cross country team, allowing me to ask more precise questions.
  3. He shares a great passion for running.
  4. He has experienced many problems and issues in his running career.
  5.  He adds a different aspect of running, by being from somewhere outside of my general living area.

Who I might profile

Right now my greatest possibility for my profile is doing it on Sendin Bajric.  I thinking about picking Sendin because we are so alike and share so much of the same common interests.  Also he is easily accessible and volunteered to help me out on my profile of him.  I relate to him because we both run in the same community.  This also means we have some of the same experiences and issues that we face, making it easier to put his thoughts into words.  Things I will ask him might be issues he faces while running, greatest let down in running, and greatest achievement in running.

Jane Goodall Contrast

Jane Goodall, believe it or not, has a lot in common with people in the running community.  Much of her life has been devoted to helping Primates from being abused and killed, and also studying how they interact.  She spends tons of energy putting her work first before anything else.  People in the running community are also like this.  They make running a lifestyle and devote themselves to it.  They even change habits that impede this just like Jane did to continue our studies.  This is how Jane Goodall relates to the running community.  For my interview with the running community, I need someone who is hard working and loves to push themselves.  Someone who isn't afraid to tell me the real truth about the highs and lows of running every single day.  Also it has to be someone who I can really connect to and trust.  For this purpose, I think I might interview my good friend Sendin.  He would be good for it because he loves to run and also really knows the truth and passion behind it.

Connecting with running

In "Mother Tongue" by Amy Tan, the story talks about how more than just whats said.  It has a more literally meaning of how it is told in the text, such as in my community when I run. What we do is not only running, we also spread the message of running and fitness to others hopefully giving the community inspiration in many forms of non-verbal communication. The point is that I, and others, want people to get healthy and fit. Just as in the story, the message is the same way but the tone and aspect of the story causes it to inspire the daughter to show others how life or the "big picture" should be. It's a way of moving to a different beat or being different from others. This is just like the way you talk or act in different ways, just like my life and my community in running. Also in can connect with my real life with the article "Library card".  It allows me to realize that running will allow me to overcome anything.  Just as the writer of the article came over his civil rights issues.  With following these to articles as a guideline, you can aspire to greatness inside your community.
